Numerical Catalyst installation support

A great amount of time has been taken to attempt to automated the installation of Numerical Catalyst, however given the varied IT environments deployed there can often be problems.

A list of common issues is included below as well as contact details for support.

Installing COM dll files

If the installer has warned that the COM dll files could not be installed, then it is probable that you IT department has your machine locked down to refuse the installation of COM and ActiveX components. This is a reasonable precaution to protect against the accidental installation of programs that could damage your computer.

First of all discuss this problem with your IT support, who may be able to carry out the installation for you.

In the event there are any continuing issues please email support and include the installation log file that will have been left in the installation target directory by the installer.

Not all files are installed

Firstly quickly check that there is sufficient disk quota left to install the application. Also confirm that the account with administrator rights you have used does have permission to install to the target directory. ( You could for example try installing to a directory under your documents - this can always be reversed by using the uninstall application that is left by a successful installation ).

If you have IT support you may wish to discuss this problem with them.. Security settings and software may be responsible.

In the event there are any continuing issues please email support and include the installation log file that will have been left in the installation target directory by the installer.

Admin rights to install

You require admin rights to install Numerical Catalyst. If your machine is in a corporate environment you may require assistance from your IT support to carry out this installation.

Excel 2007 Trust center

A new feature with Excel 2007 has been improved security provided by the Trust Center.

It will of course be necessary to provide Numerical Catalyst with the permissions to run.

Version 1 of Numerical Catalyst is a VBA based add-in that itself calls COM object, but it not itself a COM add-in.

If you are experiencing difficulties getting the add-in to run add your trust center settings and ensure that you allow unsigned add-ins. ( If you have a specific need for a signed add-in please feed that need back. There would be a cost associated with meeting such a request associated with the purchase of the necessary certificates. Please get in contact to discuss. )

Also it may help to add the installation location as a trusted location.
